THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Enugu State Sector Command has commended the Enugu Chapter of the National Association of Seadogs (NAS) and its sister chapter in Houston, Texas for their commitment to road safety.
At the weekend in Enugu, the Special Marshals in the Enugu sector command in a partnership with the Enugu Chapter of NAS and its sister chapter in Houston, Texas held a one day public enlightenment program.
Tagged “Arrive Safely, Safety First,” the exercise was aimed at sensitizing drivers and other road users on the need for safety on the roads.
Extolling the collaboration between NAS chapters and FRSC, the State Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Tony Orji, said that “road safety actually should not be left to the staff and members of FRSC.”

He therefore called on groups and associations to “take a leaf from the Seadogs and contribute their quota to safeguarding lives on the roads.
“This combined enlightenment exercise today is not for drivers only, it is for all road users just as campaigning for road safety is not only for Regular Marshals and Special Marshals.”
Orji thanked the Enugu Chapter of NAS and its sister chapter for, “your commendable enlightenment program on radio during the 2025 ember months safety campaigns.
“After seeing what you can do, we are all looking forward to a more robust partnership and continued collaboration in the future.”
Meanwhile, the Cap’n of the Enugu Chapter, Oseloka Egbuchiem, has promised that “we at NAS in Enugu will never back out of the campaign of enlightenment on safety on our roads. We cherish the partnership with FRSC and the Special Marshals and we will keep it as robust as the situation demands.
“Later in September, we will join FRSC in the ember months safety campaign. We will build on the success of our last campaign on radio, and we will do other things.”
According to Harold Okonkwo, who represented Egbuchiem, “this one day enlightenment campaign was hinged on our desire to speak directly to commercial drivers.
“We chose three motor parks (Onitsha-South, Eastern Mass Transport, Enugu Transport Cooperation) at New Market to close out our 2025/26 Safety campaign because they offered the opportunity to meet a larger number of drivers and transporters at one place.”
