THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced a nationwide enlightenment program for road users in line with the presidential directives on COVID-19 prevention to ensure full compliance.
During a training of front desk officers and marshals on Wednesday in Abuja, to curb the menace of Covid-19 pandemic, FRSC Corp Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, said that the program was a decision by transport unions and FRSC.
Following the lifting of ban on interstate travel ban, the FRSC and road transport unions, on July 6, adopted resolutions to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
With the commencement of full patrol enforcement, Oyeyemi said, “we started with the preventive and educative approach before enforcement. We will educate all the drivers to ensure they do not carry more than the 50 per cent of their capacity as the government said.
“We have directed their various chairmen to meet with sector commanders in the states, which they are doing already.”
Oyeyemi said front desk officers played a crucial role in organisations and the training was premised on the desire to continually improve on the service delivery of the Corps.
He said beside improving personnel capacity and competence in road safety management, it is “the resolve of the Corps to improve the way it interacts with customers especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.
”Also to ensure that our front desk officers adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocol and FRSC management directives in discharging their duties,” he said.
