Chimamanda: Police declare kinsmen wanted over land dispute

THE Anambra State Police Command has declared three people, kinsmen of Chimamanda Adichie wanted over alleged cases of conspiracy and conduct likely to cause breach of peace in the state.

The suspects are kinsmen of the renowned novelist, who recently condemned the alleged intimidation of people from her country home, Abba, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, by the police.

Chimamanda had accused the police of being used to humiliate and intimidate people from her area so as to lay claim to their ancestral land in the ongoing land dispute between Abba community and their neighbour, Ukpor in Dunukofia Local Government Area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Haruna Mohammed, in a statement, stated that warrants of arrest had been obtained by the police in respect of the arrest of the three suspects, Pius Nweke, Isaac Nwafor and Engr. Bennett Anekwe.

The statement noted that: “The Anambra State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that warrants of arrest was obtained by the Police in respect of three suspects over alleged cases of conspiracy and conduct likely to cause breach of peace at Ukpor in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra.”

Mohammed enjoined the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the nearest Police Station.
