THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant in the Anambra State November governorship polls, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, has assured that he will lead the party to success in the polls.
On Tuesday in Abuja to return his Expression of Interest (EoI) and Nomination Forms, he told members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), that his nomination will guarantee a victory for PDP in November.
Okonkwo, who was received at Wadata House m, the party’s secretariat, amid fanfare, said his recently concluded tour of the 21 local government areas of Anambra revealed a “deep desire and determination by party stakeholders, statutory delegates, local government and ward executives to work for the party.”
He disclosed that “I certain from responses I got during the tour, that we will deliver the state to PDP in the November election.
“Anambra people yearn to return to the PDP and they are waiting for the election to for the manifestations of that desire.”
He assured you that with free, fair and transparent primary election, and with the party ticket under his belt, the party will soar.
He noted further that “it is not only about winning the election; we shall govern the state in such a way that Nigerians will be proud of the PDP.”
Aware that several aspirants had purchased the party’s forms to contest in the election, Okonkwo said only one aspirant would emerge and “I am hoping that that aspirant would be me.”
The PDP National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu, who received the forms at the Party’s Conference Hall, lauded Okonkwo’s continued support for the party, and said that the June 26 party primaries would be free, fair and transparent.
He said: “The NWC will not condone any act of wrongdoing that will impugn the integrity of the party because once the primary is free and fair, you can build trust among all members even in those that lose.”
