Engineers, DICON partner to advance technological innovations

THE Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) will collaborate to propel innovation driven economy and technology advancement.

During a visit to DICON headquarters in Kaduna on Wednesday, 

President of the NSE, Babagana Mohammed, said that NSE would stand behind DICON in achieving its set objectives.

He said it was important for NSE to work with organisations like DICON that have excelled in the areas of research and development.

While he called for more support for DICON for it to develop technological capacity in Nigeria, he said, “DICON has been doing Nigeria proud since its establishment in 1964 by promoting national defence and enterprise.”

He commended DICON’s successive  management for their commitment and hailed the Director General, Maj.-Gen Victor Ezugwu for his support for the NSE branch in Kaduna.

Mohammed noted DCION’s generous sponsorship for training of staff and noted that “this speaks volume about the premium this organisation put on capacity building, which is also a cardinal tenent in the vision and mission of the NSE.”

He said that despite DICON’s achievements, there is still a lot more grounds to cover in terms of innovation and enterprise management.

The Director-General welcomed the offer of collaboration in the area of civil engineering and promoting national economic development with the society of engineers.

“We are hopeful that the collaboration will be mutually beneficial to all parties,” Ezeugwu said.
