THE Nigerian private sector based Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) has commended the Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his efforts at minimizing the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the state.
At the presentation of CACOVID palliatives in the state on Tuesday, the State Representative of the coalition, Mrs. Chiaka Mbagwu, said that they identified with all the steps taken by Ugwuanyi on checking the coronavirus.
She explained that CACOVID was in partnership with the Federal Government, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other agencies, with the purpose of combating COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
She acknowledged that the commitment of the state government in the fight against COVID-19, informed the support of the coalition through the donation of food items such as garri, rice, pasta, noodles, sugar and salt.
Mbagwu explained that CACOVID through the provision of palliative items for Nigerians, provides support to the government in the fight against COVID-19.
She added that, “this synergy between the government and the private sector will continue to yield fruitful results for the people of the state and the country at large.”
The governor acknowledged the support from CACOVID and said that his administration has consistently distributed various palliatives to vulnerable people and communities in the last six months to cushion the hardships occasioned by the pandemic.
He said, “the CACOVID food palliatives initiative dovetails into our continuing support for our people,” and thanked individuals, organizations that have supported the state in the interventions.
Ugwuanyi assured that the food items from the coalition will get to the targeted beneficiaries.
