THE Anambra State oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze has vowed to ensure that local government funds, which he claimed were appropriated by agents of the state governor, Willie Obiano were refunded.
Speaking when some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum, visited him in his country home in Ukpo, Prince Eze, said that “since Obiano has refused to hold local government elections, he must be ready to refund all the allocations and revenue of the councils at the end of his tenure.”
He claimed that he had “taken up the matter formally in writing with President Muhammadu Buhari concerning all the governors, especially those of the South East geopolitical zone, who have refused to hold council elections.
“They chose to usurp the functions and finances of that level of government; they will all be called to account, none will get away with it.”
The Forum’s Director of Communications and former Majority Leader of the state House of Assembly, Humphrey Nsofor said that the visit was to seek Eze’s support in relaunching the party with the 2021 governorship polls.
He noted, “we are better placed to chart a new course for the state in the governorship polls and to align the state with the administration at the federal level.”
Naofor said further that the state had been “sabotaged out of the federal administration,” and that it won’t continue.
He claimed that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the incumbent All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have failed the people of Anambra state, and that the APC is prepared to replace APGA.
The chairman of the Forum, Chief Innocent Obi described Eze as “an illustrious son, motivator and great grassroots mobilizer,” and praised him for his tireless efforts to ensure that Anambra remained in the centre stage politically.
He said the Elders Forum is “child of necessity created by distinguished and committed elders from all parts of the state made up of technocrats and academics to galvanize the abundant human resources ignored by successive administrations.
“It is meant to stabilise the party (APC) and resuscitate the political interests of the citizens, especially the elders who have been sidelined by a generation of mindless godfathers and buccaneers.”
“We are here to play advisory roles in reconciling real and imagined factions and interests for our collective good under a united APC to take over power from the incumbent in the 2021 governorship polls.
“We want to re-awaken the consciousness of the youths to become relevant again, resourceful and organized leaders of tomorrow so as to begin to demand accountability from all duty bearers.
“We have already started the bid of changing the misgivings that APC is anti-South East.
“Soon we will come open with numerous life transforming projects embarked by the APC-led Federal Government in Anambra. Some of our sons and daughters have been given prominent appointments; these are documented.”
Arthur Eze thanked the Forum for choosing him as their Grand Patron, and pledged to ensure that APC clinched the state in the 2021 governorship polls.
