Yobe governor is caretaker chairman, as APC NEC sacks NWC

Yobe State Governor, Mala Buni

THE  National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the Yobe State Governor, Mala Buni as the caretaker chairman of its extraordinary National Convention to elect a new national chairman for the party.

The NEC on Thursday dissolved its National Working Committee (NWC), and closed the door on the tumultuous tenure of former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman.

The party’s NEC meeting, which held in Abuja, was presided over by acting National Chairman, Victor Giadom, who President Muhammad Buhari, on Wednesday endorsed for that position as against the choice of Senator Abiola Ajimobi and later Prince Hilliard Eta by the former NWC.

The NEC meeting was clouded in controversy following threats by members loyal to former national chairman, Oshiomhole and others sympathetic to APC national leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to boycott the event, said to be convened by Giadom.
