Peter Obi: There is no reason for PDP to walk away from election tribunal

Peter Obi, “there is hope.”

THERE is hope; we are resolved to continue with the case at the tribunal until we get justice, and not even the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can stop us, says Mr. Peter Obi.

Reaffirming the position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to continue to contest the integrity of the 2019 election, the party’s vice presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi insisted that all is not lost.

At a thanksgiving service in Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, to celebrate the electoral victory of Senator Stella Odua (Anambra North senatorial district) Chukwuka Onyema (Ogbaru Federal Constituency) and the winners of the state House of Assembly, Noble Igwe (Ogbaru 1 ) and Somto Udeze (Ogbaru 2), Obi said, “all hope is not lost,” as he queried to provide the server it used for the election.

He said: “INEC must provide the server they used for the election because they know they used the server for the election and must provide it.”

He urged the lawmakers to always work to improve the outlook of their respective constituencies as there is no way they can forget the interest of those who voted for them.

Obi reminded them that, “we must show our appreciation to all the people who helped make it possible for us to succeed, we must do something that they will appreciate.

“The election is over and now is the time to work. We have to thank God Almighty for the victories, because without Him, we would not have succeeded in the election.

“Whenever we have the opportunity we should show gratitude to God. Thanksgiving is important and we are here to show our appreciation to God for what he did for us.”

The former governor told the recently inaugurated lawmakers to bear the interest of the masses in mind above anything else because that is why the people voted for them.

He noted: “You are nearer to the people and must know their problems. There is a lot of work to be done in the constituency. For example, there is no road in Ogbaru and so many areas needs to be revived again.

“So many people are hungry, so many things are happening in Nigeria. Our children are not working because there is no job while some are working and suffering.”

Senator Oduah noted that the essence of being in the Senate is to “make laws that will brighten and better the lives of the people as well as laws that will breed good governance.”

Promising to continue in her empowerment scheme for the youths, she explained that, “youth empowerment is ensuring human capital development. Nothing else can work except people are empowered. To develop the people we must empower them to empower others.”
