THE All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Enugu West, Mrs Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu has challenged the re-election of Deputy President of the Senate Ike Ekweremadu at the National Assembly tribunal in Enugu State.
According News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the tribunal received 10 petitions. Other petitioners are former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, and APC candidate Mr Eugene Odo, who is challenging the election of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Chuka Utazi, in Enugu North Senatorial district.
Also, another APC candidate, Mr Lawrence Eze is challenging the declaration of former governor of the state, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani as winner of Enugu East Senatorial zone.
For the Federal House of Representatives seats being challenged are Enugu North and South, Ezeagu/Udi, Nsukka/ Igboeze South and Aninri/Awgu/Oji River, Nkanu East/Nkanu West, Igbo-Etiti/Uzo Uwani, and Udenu/Igboeze North.
A breakdown of the petitions, emanating from the outcome of the February 23 National Assembly election, shows that out of the 10 petitions, nine were filed by APC candidates while one was filed by a candidate of African People’s Alliance (APA).
The elections in all the senatorial seats and House of Representatives seats were challenged.
