AS Nigerians continue to react to the helicopter crash involving the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for an investigation into the crash, while expressing shock over the incident.
The helicopter crashed at Kabba, Kogi State, Saturday, where the Vice President was headed to for a campaign in the state. There were no casualties.
The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in his twitter handle, @atiku, wrote, “Dear Vice President @ProfOsinbajo, I just received news of the crash of your helicopter in Kabba, Kogi State. I am happy to note however that all is well with you and your delegation.”
The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, wrote on his twitter handle @bukolasaraki, “I join all Nigerians in thanking Almighty God for sparing the life of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who survived a helicopter crash over Kabba, Kogi State today.”
The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremdu, in his social media handles @iamEkweremadu wrote: “I received with a total sense of shock the news of the helicopter crash involving the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, and his entourage.
“I thank God for this mighty deliverance. May He continue to grant our Vice President sound health, long life, and grace in all his endeavours”
Sounding elevated and optimistic, the Vice President, speaking to Nigerians, thanked the Almighty God for delivering him and boasted that his party, All Progressives Congress, APC, would continue with their ‘Next Level’ engagements and plans for Kogi State.
He said: “All thanks and glory to God, the chopper we boarded today from Abuja just crash landed in Kabba, Kogi State, and the entire crew plus myself are all safe. We are continuing with our Next Level Engagements and plans for Kogi State.”
On his twitter handle @ProfOsinbajo, the Vice President wrote: “We are safe and sound! Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern and thank you to the crew who managed the situation well. We believe that God will continue to keep us and Nigeria safe even as we go higher.”
PDP calls for through investigation
In a statement Saturday by the Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP spokesman, the party noted its gratitude to God over the survival of the vice-president in the crash.
The statement continued: “The party however called for a thorough investigation into the traumatic incident adding that the safety of our leaders, and of course, all Nigerians, must be guaranteed, especially at this critical time.
“The PDP urges all Nigerians irrespective of creed, ethnicity and political affiliation, to continue to pray for God’s continued intervention in our national life.”
