DFID, NGF set agenda for SE Governors’ Forum

THE Director General of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, (NGF) Asishana Okauru has called on the staff of the South East Governors Forum (SEGF) to always pursue issues, which are of common interest to the zone, while also keeping in focus important Federal Government initiatives with a view to domesticating them.

Speaking Friday at a two day induction course for the Directors of the SEGF secretariat, held at the Nike Lake Resort, Enugu, Okauru explained that a Governors’ Forum is the policy hub of the governorrs.

At the event organized by the Department For International Development (under its PERL ARC Programme), Okauru
noted that the staff should be professionals, persons of integrity and impeccable character.

Speaking on “Strategies For Managing a Governors’ Forum,” the Director General of the NGF
listed the functions of the staff of the SE Governors’ Forum to include organizing meetings, setting agenda, defining priorities for the governors as well as acting as a link between the various states, the MDAs, partners and other stakeholders.

The other functions, he noted are keeping records, interfacing with states, the Federal Government, local and international partners while providing policy guidance and direction to the governors.
