Ikpeazu eases curfew, hails return of peace in Abia

THE Abia State Government has in view of the relative peace and calm in the state relaxed the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on the state.

At the end of its meeting Monday, the Abia State Security Council directed that the current curfew be observed from 10pm to 6am from Monday till further notice.
The Council at the meeting held to assess the security situation in the state, also noted that relative peace and calm had returned to all parts of the state.
A statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Appolos, noted that the Council directed the Police “to ensure that law and order is maintained around the state and innocent citizens are not molested in the course of their regular engagements.”
The Council meanwhile warned “miscreants and mischief makers to leave the borders of Abia State immediately.”
According to the Council the review of the regime for the curfew was “to ease movement challenges while sustaining the observed improvements in security across the state.”
